This past sunday evening, as the sun set on Westridge Farms, my husband, Andy, and I spent time with good friends, touring their beautiful new home, playing hide and seek in the grass with their calves, and getting caught in the rain while riding in the tractor!
Caleb is a second generation cow farmer, and although he does use them for meat, he has a few choice cows that he has named and will be a part of their family for a long time. They don't seem to mind being ridden, wanting afternoon cuddles, or after following Caleb around like a dog and giving him wet willies whenever the opportunity presents itself!
When Caleb mentioned wanting photos of him and his herd of cows, I jumped for the opportunity! I had never photographed cows in a photo shoot before that evening, but I love every new challenge that comes my way!
Although I came out for the challenge of photographing cows, Stephanie asked for our photo shoot to include some photos of just her and her husband. I said, "OF COURSE!" Originally high school sweethearts, these two have been together for many years and happily married for 6. The love and tenderness they have for one another was present in every frame, and it made it incredibly difficult for me to choose which images were my favorites.
We photographed well into the evening, as the sun gave way to it's golden hour and the growing storm clouds cast the blue night and bright moon our way.
A request that Caleb and Stephanie had was to take a few photographs set up similar to their engagement photos 7 years ago, posed next to his truck - now a bit taller with his fancy lift kit and bigger tires! Just before the down pour of rain, a full rainbow stretched above the sky, from one side of their property to another!
Thank you Caleb and Stephanie for an adventure at your new farm, for inviting me to photograph your story, and allowing me push you a bit past grandma’s approval to capture the intimate moments within your marriage!
