Suzy and her thoroughbred, Marcus, enjoyed a Horse & Rider photoshoot at ATG Equestrian LLC, during my last trip to Wellington, Florida. He is a strong, opinionated horse, who tested my skills as a photographer, to not only create an environment he felt comfortable in, but also create images that captured their bond and love for each other, as he danced around, showing us all of his dance moves!
I am thankful for my background in animal behavior, using an array of tricks for all of his senses (sight, sound, touch, taste), in different locations throughout the property, that either tapped into the working side of his brain, or the quieter peaceful side of his brain. It also helped having the years of experience as an equestrian AND photographer, anticipating the behavior and being ready for the shot when he moved through it.
HUGE shoutout to the Suzy, who smiled through the session, following directions quickly, and making my job easy! Big thanks to the grooms and trainers for assisting in prep and handling of Marcus before and after the shoot too. We could not do it without this amazing teamwork!
