These past few months I have been photographing weddings with the wonderful Kailee Marie Photography (check her out here! https://www.kaileemariephotography.com)! With her new business, Kailee has just started photographing weddings as the first photographer, and has hired me on as her second shooter.
What’s the difference? Typically the first photographer is the photographer the bride and groom have been corresponding with, and hired based upon their work and what they offer for coverage on the big day! They are the photographer who is the one who photographs the BIG moments from the ideal angles, posing and conducting the wedding photography. They are also the one who puts final touches on the photographs and delivers the galleries to the clients!
A second shooter, is another photographer who is there to assist the first photographer. They help with everything from carrying and prepping gear, holding umbrellas, organizing the families for group photographs, fluffing dresses and tweaking details before the photos are taken. The second shooters are photographing the BIG moments from another angle, or capturing the candid moments that happen off on the sidelines. The goal of the second shooter is to make the first photographers job super easy, as well as providing additional photographs to help fill a gallery and completely capture the day from start to finish!
It has been a blast being back in the wedding business! I didn’t realize how much I missed it! I enjoy helping Kailee take a vision and create the jaw dropping moment for the bride and groom to treasure forever! I also love capturing the flowers girls twirling around on the sidelines and the grandmas that ditch their walkers to get down and dirty on the dance floor!! The bride and groom expect the photographs of their first kiss, first dance, cutting cake, and the classic portraits, but it’s the small candid moments of mom crying during the ceremony, or the expression on the groom’s face when he sees his bride for the first time, or how dad doesn't want to let his daughter go and hangs on to her hand just a moment longer, those are the moments I fall in love photographing. Those are the moments that make us succeed as wedding photographers.
For a tidbit of the last wedding we photographing in September together, I have posted below some of my favorite photographs from my point of view. To see the completed gallery presented to the bride, groom, and families, click here! >>>https://kaileemphotography.pixieset.com/jodimirsad/
