In the end of September was invited to be the official photographer for the Back Country Horseman’s Lake Michigan Beach Ride! Horses and riders, of all ages and disciplines, joined us along the North Muskegon Beach, enjoying the blue skies and warm waters as many of their horses experienced water and swimming for the first time!
I was onsite photographing the riders who wanted to invest in private sessions, capturing a once in a lifetime opportunity with their horses, as well as capturing any candid moments of those just there to have fun! Everyone had a wonderful time! It was great to see so many smiles and to witness those working so well with their horses to overcome the fear and teaching the horses how to enjoy swimming.

Jenny is the reason we were granted access to the beach to make this opportunity possible! She has been dreaming of being able to ride her own horses on the Michigan beaches for years, and after hundreds of hours of research, networking, and organization, with help of the Back Country Horsemen and the DNR, over 70 horses were able to come and ride along Lake Michigan for the first time!
This is an opportunity you don’t often get to take advantage of, unless you are vacation in a far away tropical island, or live along the ever warm beaches of the south.
Jenny made it happen for us Michiganders! We are all awaiting anxiously to see if this will be an annual ride or if selected beaches will be open to horses now!
