A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of photographing Annika and her new pony, Dippin’ Dots! If you don’t recognize Annika, one of my photos from Annika’s 2019 winter photoshoot was published on the cover of November/December’s issue of Young Rider! She was so much fun to photograph last year that when I heard she had another pony, I jumped to photograph her again!
Annika’s new pony is appropriately named Dippin’ Dots, and although he is a bit more of a handful then Annika’s other pony, he is still cute as a button! We photographed Dippin’ Dots at liberty. He showed off, strutting his stuff through the snow, and as we did, he kept his curious eye on me. He wasn’t quiet sure what we were asking of him, so while capturing portraits, I turned on a phone with horses noises. Much to our surprise, and entertainment, he started whinnying back!
Time and the footing in the outdoor arena didn’t allow us to photograph Annika riding, but I hope to return this summer to photograph the pair as they successfully navigate through a jumping course.
