ABOUT THESE WORKSHOPS
During these workshops, we will be embarking on a three day photography journey with a maximum of five like minded photographers, learning Jesse’s personal process of creating Horse & Rider portraits, backed by the positive experience she provides for every client. Horse & Rider photography is the heart and soul of the equine photography industry, and are valued by every horse own, no matter where they are in their equestrian journey. We’ll be splitting our time between a classroom environment and photographing at local dressage and hunter jumper barns, where we can push our creativity and practice new skills.
This workshop will be focused on identifying and maximizing locations, learning professional posing for all body types, and polishing the images through the editing process. Along the way, we’ll be diving into the following topics
Inquiry & Planning Photoshoot
Choosing the best camera gear & settings for each photoshoot
Using back button & single point focusing to maximize quality and details
Toys and tricks to get ears
Importance of having an assistant
Finding balance when using rule of thirds.
Creating variety by mixing detail shots, head shots, full body shots, and wide angle shots.
Identifying useable locations around the barn, in the arenas, pastures, or using green spaces on property.
Using natural light to capture a variety of images, from soft light, vibrant colors, golden hour sun flares, and silhouettes.
Leveling up the compositions by using leading lines, natural frames, and textures.
Learning go-to poses that work for every horse and rider, no matter the discipline or breed standard
Creating order to your poses to generate an organized and productive photoshoot
Reviewing basic and more advanced poses, that include the rider on the ground, under saddle, or bareback.
Identifying flattering poses for clients no matter their body type.
Shooting through movement to capture more candid poses
Maximizing possibilities for photos when using the 360˚ Posing Theory
Recognizing unique features or behaviors presented & how to highlight those through posed or action shots
Problem solving when working with difficult clients or horses
Refining details to create a professional and polished image
Importing & culling
Editing RAW images using Adobe Photoshop
Removing background distractions, blemishes, and removing naked halters
Color control & casting
Lighting control and manipulation
Using photoshop brushes
Exporting and delivery to clients
While we’ll be photographing many horse and riders throughout the workshop, this weekend is geared toward learning and apply the new skills, with hands on and individual coaching. But most importantly, you’ll be able to see and learn how Jesse and her team work together, in the office and at the barn, to provide an remarkable client experience, that has in itself, has provided an abundance of new clients through endless referrals and recommendations!

Your education will not end on the last day! Jesse is invested in your personal growth, and is including availability to continue gaining education through a private portal for 14 days following the workshop + a private virtual mentorship for each student to use within 6 months of the workshop. You’ll also receive downloadable step by step editing tutorials from Jesse’s images taken during the workshop, allowing you to play, pause and practice editing your images on a timeline that most comfortable for you.

DIFFICULTY LEVEL
This workshop is geared toward professional photographers (full time or part time), who have a background knowledge of horses, and want to elevate their skills in Horse & Rider Photography, whether it’s for the casual horse owner, and dedicated equestrian, or branding photography for equine businesses. Familiarity with both your camera equipment and Photoshop is required. Ability to be on your feet photographing for extended periods of time in rain or shine is required. These are LONG days, so please be prepared to take notes and soak up a LOT of information. Jesse does not hold back any education during these workshops!
EQUIPMENT REQUIRED
DSLR or Mirrorless camera, and either a 70-200mm, 85mm or a 135mm lens (Jesse will be shooting on a 770-200mm f/2.8 and a 135mm f/1.4). Multiple camera batteries and memory cards to last for a full day of photography. A laptop with Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, and Bridge software + memory card reader. External hard drives are encouraged for safe storage of files. (Rain gear for yourself AND camera equipment is highly recommended.)
LOCATION
These workshops will be taking place in Wellington, Florida. Please be sure to make reservations promptly, as availability for lodging and rental cars during the winter circuit is limited. Flying through West Palm Beach Airport and lodging in the West Palm or Wellington area is recommended. Vehicle rentals are available at this airport (traveling within a 1 hour radius of Wellington will be required.). Carpooling or renting AirBNB with other students is encouraged, and a great way to harbor new friendships with your fellow photographers!
YOUR INVESTMENT ($2,600 +tax)
$800 of the total package amount is considered a non refundable retainer, required upon booking, with the remainder of your investment available for payment plans leading up to the workshop date. Final payment is due in full by the date of the workshop.

ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR
Jesse Klein has over a decade of professional photography and entrepreneur experience, creating a multi six figure business, and leading the industry with her Equine Portraiture work. Traveling throughout the country, Jesse specializes in equine behavior, which when partnered with fine art skills, creates highly sought after photography that incorporates the true essence of the horse’s individual spirits, breed standards and riding disciplines.
Jesse’s work has been featured in nationally and internationally recognized publications (such as Horse & Rider, Young Rider, Horse Illustrated, etc.), representing household brands (such as SmartPak, Stateline Tack, LeMieux, etc.), can be heard through The Equestrian Photographer’s Podcast, and has been a keynote speaker multiple times for the Hair of the Dog Academy Summit.
Most importantly, Jesse is rooted in her beliefs that learning and supporting each other, in a positive community is the best way to grow. No matter where you are in your photography journey, there is something that can be learned from everyone. We do not gatekeep information, but instead encourage those with the drive to grow, to flourish with the education and new skills learned during your time spent with Jesse, and fellow like-minded students, during these workshops.
