Becoming tired of loosing the pups in the deep snow, I found a satisfying way to solve this problem and to entertain Taylor and myself for only $0.99! A makeshift collar out of spare paracord, a quick stop to our local Meijer, a few minutes enduring the unknowledgeable grouchy old lady left in charge of the balloons, and a square knot- right over left, left over right- and VWALA!
Problem solved.
Winston’s radar ears enabled Taylor and I the opportunity to know where he was at all times, but Winston’s little sister, Sassy, still had some growing to do! Therefor, she got the balloon tracking device as the pups ran rampant through the woods and fresh, deep snow! What a hoot it was!
Reminding me of Winnie the Pooh and his red balloon that he used to carry around in several of the children stories, it was hilarious watching Winston and his pink balloon adventure down the trails. The main trails were pounded down from our previous runs through with snowshoes, but once the pups wandered off to break their own trails, you couldn’t see little Sassy at all, only her pink balloon!
Needless to say, it was a memory we won’t be forgetting, and one we will be laughing about for years to come!
And as the dog trainer in me, I can happily check off “Exposure to Balloons” from Winston’s list! I’m sure he’ll be excited to see the next balloons, crossing his paws that at the end of the balloon there will be his best friend attached, ready to play in the deep snow!
